Cathy Chapin’s Announcements:

A reminder to put your outdoor items away before you leave the park for the summer.

The dog friendly areas are being expanded in the park.

A dog walk is now open on Silver Spur along the fence from the dumpsters to the informational signs.

Cactus Way – Lots 681 to 707 both sides of street.

Branding Iron – Lots 501 to 510A both sides of street.

Bunkhouse – Lots 528 to 532 both sides of street.

The entire perimeter of the park is a dog walk area.

The Activity office and Puzzle Room are exchanging places.

WR is looking at developing mobile home sights in the front of the park.

ACTIVITIES – Anita and Lee King

A poll was taken at the meeting with a show of hands regarding the Country Jam.  Pam Hoppe suggested we ask the residents if they would like the current Country Jam, an Acoustic Jam, a Gospel Jam or a Rock and Roll Jam.   The voting was divided between the Country Jam and Rock and Roll Jam.   No decisions have been made at this time.

Anita also clarified that the country western dances have not been canceled for next season.

Recipe Book – Please drop off your recipe at the Activity Office.  We will accept email, snail mail, and in person recipes.  The cookbook will be compiled next fall.

Poker Run – Thank you to everyone who participated and to the hosts for dealing cards in the rain.  Over 40 participated.

Beards in Bras Comedy Show – A great success thanks to all who were involved.  We raised over $500 for the Safe Haven for Kids project plus they received about 10 quilts from the Quilters.

Show and Tell was a great success.  Thank you for sharing your talents with everyone.

Brownsville Commemorative Air Museum Tour –  44 attended the first tour and we have 2 seats available for March 20th.

The last Craft Show of the Season was held on the 14th.  Thank you to the volunteers and Bob Babler and Rex Humke for organizing the table set up and take down.

TODAY  – Derby Days at Lone Star Downs.

Thursday –  1 pm – Bean Bag Baseball

3 pm – Volunteer appreciation –  coke or root beer floats by the pool if weather permits.

Friday –  3:30  St. Pats Parade at Trophy Gardens.

Saturday –  7 pm  Dance to the Texas Wheels Band

Monday the 20th –  Trip to the Brownsville Commemorative Air Museum at noon.

Tuesday –  Winter Texan Day at Progresso.  Departing Winter Ranch at 8:30 am and departing Progresso at 2:30 pm.

THANKS TO ALL WHO PUT ON THIS EVENT!

Safe Haven for Kids received $206.77 from the bags for the People’s Choice Awards and $367 from the 50/50 for a total of $573.77 and they also went home with a lot of beautiful quilts from our Quilting Ladies. Cathy Chapin thanked us for attending the Beards in Bras comedy show. We raised over $573.77 for the children. Angela and David Lopez were thrilled. She was going to buy a crib and mattress with the money. The quilts were so pretty and she was overwhelmed with emotion.

Meeting Minutes for March 8, 2017

Lorenzo Garza from the Citrus Association spoke about Citrus Tree diseases.  He will be at Winter Ranch on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 14 and 15 to look at trees on your lot.  Please sign up in the Activity Office if you would like an inspection.  There is no charge for these services.

Cathy Chapin, Manager reminded everyone to order their mailing labels before they go home.  Please remember to put all your outside items away before you leave.

Sagebrush Sidekicks was a successful event.   Cathy thanked the Winter Ranch Players for their creative entertainment.

The Golf Course is closed on Tuesday for maintenance.  Please do not play on that day.  The maintenance crew needs to complete their work.

Congratulations to the Parade participants.  They won 2nd Place in the Alamo Parade on Saturday.

Cathy extended a heartfelt thank you to everyone for another great year.  You had many activities and it looked like everyone was having a great time.

As we wind down for the season, we want to thank everyone who has participated in activities, volunteered, and supported the Activity Department this season.  We are busy making plans for new entertainment, dances, and tours for the next season.

WILDER GOLF TOURNAMENT – Winter Ranch was well represented at the Wilder Golf Tournament at Terra Santa Golf Course on Sunday, March 5th.

Recipes –  Please begin sharing your best recipes with us before you go or when you are roaming around this summer.  I want to begin making the new cookbook this fall.
